As of 12 August 2024, a minor works approval for works being undertaken within the City of Hobart Local Government Area can be submitted online via PlanBuild Tasmania. Information about this process, registering and application can be found at www.planbuild.tas.gov.au via Application Services.

Prior to 1 January 2025, a minor works approval was known as a certificate of exemption. All certicates of exemption issued prior to 1 January 2025 remain valid as they are not subject to an expiry date.
